Little Pink's alt-country debut "Cul-de-sac Cowgirl" has won praise for its sound ("Jittery, jangly shimmer; a roots rock pageant that shines with scuffed sophistication" - No Depression); its lyrical power ("marks the arrival of a distinctive songwriter" - The Washington Post); and the performance of Little Pink lead singer-songwriter Mary Battiata ("think Emmylou or early Dolly mixed with Richard and Linda Thompson" -georgepelecanos.com).

Since its formation in 1999, the Arlington, Va.-based quintet has appeared with everyone from Jim Lauderdale to Amy Rigby, from Varnaline to the Continental Drifters, and rocked clubs, coffee bars and bookstores from Brooklyn to Baltimore.

Harp magazine recently named Mary to its list of "8 Songwriters You Should Hear." This winter, she explores new sonic territory with the January 2003 release of "12 Birds," a 4-song acoustic EP recorded with friends Philip Stevenson ("Cul-de-sac Cowgirl" co-producer), and part-time Pink (and full-time virtuoso) John Gnorski.
